Actually, I could do with a little more seriousness to him. One overlooked bit of the first film I like is when Green Goblin shows up at the Bugle and threatens JJ's life, wanting to know who takes the pictures of Spider-man, but JJ actually protects Peter by insisting the pictures are sent by courier and he doesn't know. The rest of his depiction is pure comedic. Very entertaining, but you could get some nice drama out of showing JJ actually having integrity as a journalist, but having his dislike for Spider-man clouding his actions. There's a good Ultimate Spider-man story about this where the Kingpin comes back to New York, having gotten off a murder rap despite Spidey delivering a video of him committing the crime to the police. He backs this other guy's run for Mayor, and JJ supports this guy in the papers and downplays the Kingpin connection because he's running on an anti-Spider-man campaign. The Bugle staff have a go at him about it, and Ben Urich defies his wishes by bringing up the connection in an interview, which prompts Kingpin to send some guys to intimidate him. Spidey shows up to save him, and JJ admits he may be letting unresolved feelings about his son's recent death(he thinks his son's more of a hero than Spider-man because heroes don't wear masks in his opinion), and stops supporting the Kingpin's pal. Though he still Spidey-bashes.

Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Marc Webb ((500) days of Summer) has been having talks with Sony about taking on the Director role on Spiderman 4

The site also reported that the 3D rumours are most likely true which is why Summer 2012 is the mooted date

Other Directors on Sony's wishlist include Cameron, David Fincher and Wes Anderson

Sony like Webb because (500) Days "depicted how young people think and feel" which is critical because the Jamie Vanderbilt script covers the formative years of a high school Peter Parker

Webb really is the standout choice from that list, mainly because he's up and coming. I can't see Fincher or Cameron touching this now without full creative control.

I also can't see any studio touching Wes Anderson for a blockbuster. His last three movies have flopped and I personally would have no desire to see his take on something that I love.

I guess there are a few Roald Dahl fans that feel the same.

i like the marc webb idea, mostly because i'd love to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt as spidey.

I would dearly love to see what happend if Wes Anderson took a shot at it but I really don't see that happening at all. I'll just have to imagine "The Royal Parkers"
