Usually, when i read a "journey" type fantasy, I'm just waiting impatiently for the hero to stop faffing around and get on with reaching his destination (just once I'd love to read a fantasy where the hero sets out on an epic journey, and the next chapter starts with him arriving some months later, cuttin the whole tiresome journey out), but here I found myself wishing Nevarre would stay and linger even longer at each stopping point on his quest. And it's made me want to read Renegade's Magic without delay...

Glad you liked Forest Mage, I adored it as well. Hobb loves to torture her main protagonist doesn't she! What I liked about this series (I've finished it) is that I didn't know how Nevare would sort everything out and whwn it comes to prose Hobb is untouchable.

I can't wait for Hobb's next release. It will be set in the 'Rain Wilds'.

I'm currently about 300 pages into 'The Eye of the World' by Robert Jordan. All I can say is wow! But it's twelve books so I'm thinking to myself: 'What have I got myself into'

Red Seas under Red Skies by Scott Lynch. Enjoyed the first very much, so far this is also living up to expectations

Just finished reading Naomi Novik's 'Victory of Eagles' which turned out to be a real departure from the 'go to a new country and meet foreign dragons' approach which has been typical of the last few books. Guerilla warfare with dragons = cool! I'm not so sure about the ending though, it looks like Naomi could be back to her old tricks in the next book, I hope not... My full review is over Here.
The missus is away this week so I'm going to use the time to have a real stab at finishing 'Toll the Hounds' amongst others...

Yes!

Which reminds me, I first thought of buying it when I saw the cover ... must mention that on the relevant thread.

One that you kinda wish was longer. Still, this edition does include an additional short story!

Darkland by Liz Williams

It's not a bad book, it's very readable but I have to think that this woman has man issues because it feels slightly preachy in places.
