Oh just wait until you get to the final book - Eastern Tide - you're in for a treat and a half !! It's by far Juliet's best book so far and one of the best books for adults I've read this year... I had to sit on a review of it for months after being privileged to read the MS (for a paper I'm writing, the original deadline for which was shortly after ET came out but has since been moved back to next Spring :roll.

I'm mentioned in the acknowledgements too - actually I'm in the acknowledgements for Northern Storm and Western Shore too ! ops:
Ooh, so you are! I've waited this long after finishing the first one as I wanted to space them out before the final one came out; unfortunately I got a little side tracked so now I'll probably be reading the last three one after the other!

I'm actually pretty pleased with how much I'm getting back into regular reading now. I can read a book a week no problem (and still work, watch TV and get stitching done), and if I need to I can get through two a week. I know it's not quite up to your speed yet, but it's a heck of an improvement on the book drought I'd been going through before!

I love reading an entire series in one fell swoop - hence I waited until I had all of the Illmoor Chronicles books before I began...

Well it's not a competition, so far as I know ! And don't forget, I neither stitch nor watch TV (although I do write every day, even if it's nothing more expansive than a Blog review), which gives me acres more time in which to read - nor do I work the long hours you do...

I'm half way through Northern Lights (book one of His Dark Materials) by Philip Pullman.

Waiting to be read are the other two HDM books, 5 Alvin Maker books (Orson Scott Card), The Magician (Feist), some Michael Crichton, Dean Koontz (never read any of his books, someone recommended him), Ben Elton and a book about Leonardo DaVinci, because I've always been interested in him, NOT because of the DaVinci Code!

I'm about to start David Lee Stone's The Shadewell Shenanigans - must say the alliterative titles seem a bit much after you're written all six of them down !

I am severely in love with that book. I really hope you enjoy it, don't forget to let us know what you think.
I have that on my shelf waiting to be read. I bought it in a bookshop in Hay on Wye, and the woman at the counter told me as I bought it that she'd thought it was really awful when she read it. Way to make a sale!

Bill Bryson's The life and times of the Thunderbolt Kid. Firstly it made me want to grow up in 50s small town America and secondly it is amazingly funny - I love his dry sense of humour.
And as a historical snapshot it is incredibly interesting, showing just how many changes have taken place in a relatively short period of time.

Well I've finished it and it was superb, the first 50 odd pages were a little bit confusing and therefore a slightly hard going, but when I realised that this was a book that wasn't going to explain many of its secrets I got on with it much better. Overall I was very impressed and I'm looking forward to the next book. 9/10

I've also just started Ship of Destiny by Robin Hobb

Re-reading Pratchett's Small Gods as I wait for Wintersmith to be delivered.

I think Vorbis could be Pratchett's best ever villain.
