Default What book are you reading right now?

Subject title says it all really.

I've just started Conqueror's Moon by Julian May.

As usual, I've got too many on the go at once.

The Proof House by K.J. Parker is my bedside reading. It's the fourth Parker I've read in two weeks, which when you've got a nine month old daughter teething at the same time means that the author has to be pretty bloody marvellous.

Risen Empire by Scott Westerfeld is being read on train journeys.

Just finishing a thriller called The Righteous Men which is being published next year by HarperCollins. It's like Michael Marshall (Smith), but with a theme of Hassidic Jewish mysticism. It's okay.

And I've got a copy of Hunter S Thompson's collected letters in the bathroom to dip in and out of.

Out of the Silent Planet - C S Lewis (partly on the recommendation of umopapisdn, and partly because Ransom is supposed to be loosely based on Tolkien...)

And Colin Duriez's Tolkien and Lewis: A Friendship, which I'm taking notes on as I read it (which is why I've been reading it for 3 weeks !) I have already read it once this year anyway...

Nowhere Near an Angel by Mark Morris (just started, superb)
The Hidden by Sarah Spinborough (half way through, good horror scenes but needs work on dialogue)
Dan Dare: Journey to Venus Pt 1 by Frank Hampson (half way through, wonderful)

... and various story/novella submissions...
