But...

The Daleks don't convince me at all at the moment, and I'm sort of dreading their return...and not in a good way. The TARDIS interior looks a complete mess to be honest, no design coherence there at all unlike the grace and colour scheme of the previous one - too many different surfaces and too many colours in the lighting scheme. It just looks messy.

Perversely they've gone completely in the opposite direction with the Daleks - removed almost all their surface details (for an HD show?!?) and simplified them into almost child-like shapes and colours.

There really seems to be a conflicted design ethos going on in the show now and it doesn't sit well for me.

Just my own opinion you understand.
it makes sense if you think about it, detail is easier to damage, and in HD easier to see damaged, i think they wanted the new daleks to look pristine and flawless in HD.

I've been watching the latest series in HD and it is true to say that the one bronze colour Dalek we saw in "Victory" did not look as impressive as it did in 'Normal Definition'. A little bit faker.

(I still prefer it to the new ones though.)

If you look at the sketch gallery on the BBC website then the concept art isn't actually that bad - image 4 in particular. It doesn't have the stupid hump, at least.

looking at the artwork do you think the top half of the Dalek is going to flip open and slide down the "Hump" at the back?

Had a bizare dream last night, which saw the new Daleks create more new Daleks. The supreme Dalek was literally putting blocks of paint into a vast washing machine type drawer, and Daleks came rolling out.
Purple with Orange sensors, Yellow with Pink.

I hope it was not a premonition.

If you like Daleks, check out this interesting Dalek webcoming, Second Empire, a story following the adventures of Dalek Xenol as he launches a uprising against the Dalek Emperor.
