Default The Walking Dead Game

Okay, Episode One of Telltale games title was released last month. So who's played it yet? What choices did you make? If you read the comics, what do you think of this expansion of the comic book verse?

Although I'm not very fond of point-and-click games in general, I gave this a go just because it was part of the Walking Dead world. I actually enjoyed it, despite its relatively sedate pace, and I will be downloading Episode 2 in June. It fitted in really nicely with the comics, and I liked the cameos by established characters.

The best parts, however, were the sections where you had to make a rapid choice and the ramifications of these choices will stay with you throughout all the episodes. This makes everyone's experience slightly different and adds replayability.

For the record, I chose to save Duck because he was a kid, I gave Irene the gun because she didn't want to turn and I saved Doug at the end because he seemed more useful. All Carly had was gun skills, and we all know that in the Walking Dead stories that guns attract zombies and eventually a horde. I also unwittingly lied to Herschel and sided against Kenny, even though I thought I was supporting him...

I'm really interested in this, but I did wonder, I've only read the first two hardback volumes (so, issues 1-24), so is there any point in the comics I should make it to before I start playing the games? Or does it operate in its own little self-contained pocket?

You don't need to have read the comics to enjoy the game and get immersed in it's story. There's some nods to the comics, and introduction of a couple of comics characters, but it pretty much tells its own story with it's own original characters.

Nice -- I've just picked up the Back to the Future game, and I still have Monkey Island SE, so I need to set aside some time for pointing, and indeed, clicking.

Finished episode 2. I won't spoil the choices I made or what happens, but let me say despite that I could pretty much see the twist about the farm coming a mile off, this game is still one of the best I have played in recent times.

I played episode 1 the other day - lovely. Unfortunately, episode 2 has been released everywhere, on every platform, except PSN in Europe. And there's no word from TTG when it will be out. Frustrating!

Well vonbloodbath, be frustrated no more, PSN has now released episode 2. No explanation has been given for the delay though.

And as for episode 3? It'll be out Mid-August
