No but you cant fight a war with six people.

And you never took more than six people against a Battleship or Alien Base? What level did you play on? You had to use at least one redshirt to open the ufo doors... unless you had a blaster bomb

Even with the best armour on, it could be one shot one kill.

It does get a bit silly with psionics though.

No... Six people does not work for me. Not for this type of game.

In Xcom Apocalypse, which was more of a real time game, you could comfortably play with six agents, later on. You still had the option to bring along 36. Surely in this day and age they can create a game that allows you the flexibility to play how you want to?

It is true that applying a 6 person limit seems bit odd.

I never really used more than one transport's load of stuff - normally 6-8 guys and a tank. I think I just used to reload the game a lot and so would end up with a smallish group of guys who were absolutle bad assess once they were all leveled up and kitted out.

Never could get along with Apocalypse but that maybe down to the fact I've never had the manual and never managed to really learn how the game worked.

I would give my redshirts the names of people from work I didn't like, then have a little evil smile when they got killed.

But yeah, the only limit was how many people you could get on the ship.

I think its the best one.

It has to be played in real time, as the turnbased combat is a bit of an after thought. The maps are so huge, it can take hours to complete what should only take 5 minutes in real time. It also has something taht the original Xcom badly needed - squad deployment. You can move your men in squads rather than individually.

It also functions as probably one of the few RTS games where you actually use strategy of any kind.

The rest of the game is more or less the same, only more detailed, even though its a city rather than the whole planet.

Its not everyones cup of tea though. Some people think its heresy to be RTS focused

loved the first x-com, but to be honest since I bought the 360, I've neglected upgrading the old girl, so knowing my luck I won;t be able to run it.

Damn you all! Since seeing this thread I've spent several days playing Apocalypse almost nonstop from morning until well into the night. It's definitely one of my top five games of all time. I'm glad I kept my old ThinkPad as it won't run on my new laptop.

Yeah, I just did a playthrough on superhuman. Very difficult for the first few weeks. Once you have cloaks and shields with the toxi gun, its pretty easy. Did have to reload to an early save after they kept sending saucers through to destroy my manufacturing and research base, when i had no realistic defences against a battleship and mothership. I could not hope to recover from that.

Really looking forward to this game. First played it on an Amiga 500 + (slow) then on PS1 (awesome).Loved the base and squad management elements as well as the turn based tactical side to the game.
