Default Once Upon a Time - Channel 5 UK

First episode was tonight. And I for one, really enjoyed it. I loved the mix of the worlds and I thought it had a kind of 10th Kingdom vibe to the Fairytale sections of it.

A good start and I hope it continues.

Just watched it on demand 5 on www.five.tv

much better than I thought it would be, liked the fact that hte fairytale parts looked like fairytales rather than the more modern reimaginings (and lets face it if that is what you think oz/alice should be like get help, seriously call an asylum and check in before you go near anything else that children like and turn the famous 5 into ex army soldiers with PTSD).
Robert Carlysle was of course brilliant as Rumplestilitskin. bit worried about the obvious plots about evil stepmothers and Rumpy as an evil mafia style boss.

Came up with the worlds greatest Signature, one that would make women swoon and men wish to be my friend, one that would be so devastatingly brilliant that it would end the concept of signatures forever.

And then I woke up and wrote this instead.

If you're quick it'll be on 5+1 at 21:00; otherwise, it gets repeated on 5* on Thursdays at 20:00 & just before the new episode on Sundays (although it seems that last place in the schedule is affected by any films that are on in the evening; you can't split up a Karate Kid double bill, you just can't!! ) See also :-http://digiguide.tv/programme/Drama/...-1/show-times/

Enjoyed this more than I thought I would, seems quite promising. My favourite bit had to be the Prince simultaneously sword fighting with one hand and holding his baby with the other. Parts of the ep and especially the evil stepmother did seem to borrow quite heavily from Enchanted, though.

Really didn't think I would like it, but thought I would give a go and found I was pleasantly surprised, so will be watching this Sunday coming for ep 2.

I quite enjoyed it, definitely worth sticking with to see how it develops. I found the fairytale world stuff distinctly cheesy - surprised to see favourable comparisons with the 10th Kingdom - but I can forgive it short term. The only character I'm drawn to is the Mayor/Wicked Stepmother, but that may be because she's such an instantly powerful presence. Some of the references were a little heavy handed: after seeing a guesthouse called Granny's and a granddaughter with red streaks in her hair, did anyone need her to put a red scarf on her head to get who she is?

Quibbles aside (which I'm happy to put down to first episode syndrome), the plot is interesting enough to keep me watching. As the only person on the planet who's not keen on Fables, it's different enough from that to hold my interest too (although the sheriff is totally the wolf, isn't he?).

well all 22 episodes have been filmed so you're going to get a whole season, and though ABC haven't yet officially renewed it it's been such a ratings hit there's almost no conceivable way that they won't renew it in the next couple of weeks
