Phantom Menace would be the very last on any last of all 6 films in my opinion.

But anyway from Best to worst:-
1. Revenge of the Sith
2. Attack of the Clones.
3. Phantom Menace.

or alternately
1. Empire Strikes Back
2. A new Hope
3. Return of the Jedi
4. Revenge of the Sith
5. Attack of the Clones.
6. Phantom Menace.

I'd say that would probably be the most popular list in terms of overall general opinion, but I gotta say, with saw Attack of the Clones, like Tiny I was a little bit wary after seeing Phantom Menace, and to be honest, the first time I saw Clones it bored the living snot out of me. I found it a much better watch on DVD, also having seen the trilogy through to its conclusion, plus I was a little older by that point. But still, by the gods those first two films dragged at times...

The first prequel film was a massive disappointment, Jar-Jar being the big sticking point of course oh and young Anakin Skywalker! :-) There are only two good things about the first film, the pod race and the Jedi/Darth Maul fight.
The first time I saw "Clones", I though t it was a massive improvement in overall action and characterisation, and so it will always be better than "Phantom" in my opinion.

I don't hate Phantom and Clones, but do regard them in equal measure.

I can watch and be entertained by them to a certain degree but haven't really had the patience for them in a long while.

I'm not a big fan of Phantom by any means, though compared to some of the dross that has been in the cinema's recently, it's actually surprisingly watchable.

Oh yeah, I've always maintained that as standalone films the prequels are actually pretty good, if at times deeply flawed. It's just hard to talk about them, especially in the presence of people who've grown up on the OT, without opening a gigantic can of worms.

In this gigantic can, are there giant worms or thousands of little worms?

A book is not a film. A TV drama, a TV cartoon, a computer game is not a film. A Disney ride, a toy range is not a film. A COMIC BOOK IS NOT A FILM ! A $100m film is made for the masses, is made to make money. A S100m film is not made for the geeks. A $100m film is not made just to satisfy self-appointed true-believers of the 'Source'. Repeat.
