As I siad weather I buy the blu-rays is down to the quality of the image and sound and a few seconds of additions hasn't changed that.

I understand why people get upset what I don't really get is the level of vitirol it generates, why people get so angry.

That is the only reason I'd consider getting them, but further down the road, when they're all cheap, or maybe I'll stick 'em on my Amazon Wishlist and maybe someone'll buy them for me...

Me too. I have major issues with the PT because they're just bad films on so many levels, but the OT tinkering doesn't really bother me, sure it's a bit pointless and I really don't see why he does it, but hey, if he feels the need, and more importantly if people keep buying them good luck to him. I just look on them as curiosities, I have the copy of the OT that I want right here at home and I can watch them any time, sure a better quality print would be nice, but I'll make do.
The point about the quote from the grand jury is that Lucas has revealed himself to be a huge hypocrite and that's a bit funny.

I'm pretty sure this is why people are upset. if Lucas had released the OT without changes on blu-ray too people wouldn't care. But the only option people have now if they want to watch a nice transfer of the movies is the altered one. Even Scott who wasn't really happy with any of the versions of Blade Runner didn't stop people from watching any of the versions on any format.

No, Episodes 1, 2, 3 & 4 are his to change, 5 & 6 were directed by other people and as such he has NO business changing them. Would anyone suffer the producer of Jaws altering that? Course not. I've said it before bit I'll keep on saying it, its just plain rude and disrespectful.
