ANH is on ITV right now -- is it the 1997 version they're showing ? It's the only version of the OT I've actually seen, but I understand they added a little more to the 2004 version, improved Jabba etc. - he still looks a bit wonky in this one

In that case, yes it is at least the nineties's version.

There is no Jabba in the proper version of ANH. And Han shoots first.

I refuse to watch the later versions. They're rubbish. Get hold of the original if you can Veela, most definitely worth it.

Yeah, even back in 1997, with no prior knowledge of the whole Han Shooting First fiasco, I always thought that scene looked REALLY badly done

EDIT: The old versions are only a fiver each from Play.com -- I thought they were only available for a limited time? I'm still holding out for a super-spanking, bells-and-whistles 12-DVD box set of all six films (I'm a total sucker for extras), but in the meantime, these are probably my best bet I take it?

Have we done a "ways the special editions improved things" list yet? I don't remember one but I think it'd be easier to list the improvements than the ruinations...

*The special editions made you appreciate the unspecial editions more.
*I am probably the only one who thinks this, but I actually liked Jabba's cgi band.
*They made Lando's sky city better looking.
*Umm...Lucas didn't shoehorn Jar Jar Binks into the special edtions?
