I'd like to think that Kim Jong-IL has already been reincarnated - as a plump tasty looking DOG , in a hungry North Korean village ...

The mind boggles.

Putting aside the bong or beerkeg favoured by their parents, it seems that fun-loving kids in Texas are increasingly reaching instead for the plastic bag, improvised noose or heavy weight to place upon one's chest. According to a recent study, nearly one in seven Texas students surveyed had enjoyed being sociably throttled or smothered, generally as part of a cheery group event with pals rather than as a solo Tory-MP-style experience.

Sounds similar to stuff people used to do when I was in school (not me I hasten to add).

There really isn't anything new to be discovered by teenagers any more!

Each generation of teens seem to find their own highs. I remember around the time of my early teens it was glue and lighter fuel sniffing. There will be another outrage in a few years time, nothing changes, part of human stupidity.

not quite the same, but If you were attending one of Stalin's speeches, you had to be ready to clap for several minutes straight, as the first person to stop would find themselves on drummed up charges and off to Siberia.

RBS chief Stephen Hester's £963,000 bonus criticised.

While i concede that he is probably earning less than the going rate for such a job. I think it's telling of the governments ideology, that in dealing with a crisis created by banks they see £1m a fitting bonus while imposing pay freezes and job cuts on Teachers and nurses.

Their defence of these bonuses, that he has worked hard and done a good job does not fly with me I'm afraid. There are plenty of public sector workers (and private although the government has less control over their pay) that have worked equally hard and done fantastic jobs with cut budgets that will not see a penny more in their pay packet for the foreseeable future.

Had RBS been fully nationalised and was now being run as a government department, would they not be throwing the usual vitriol reserved for public servants at him? To borrow a phrase from the murdoch media this bonus alone is 6.5 times the prime ministers pay, his total pay packet will be 13.5 times the Prime minister.

I agree completely. I find it all rather obscene.

It's appalling to think he wants a bonus of any kind, given that RBS is laying off 3500 staff and the bank is still losing money, with shares that are almost worthless!
