I'm sure Asylum are working on one right now

A book is not a film. A TV drama, a TV cartoon, a computer game is not a film. A Disney ride, a toy range is not a film. A COMIC BOOK IS NOT A FILM ! A $100m film is made for the masses, is made to make money. A S100m film is not made for the geeks. A $100m film is not made just to satisfy self-appointed true-believers of the 'Source'. Repeat.

According to Forbes, it appears the JC movie isn't quite the financial disaster the haters would have us believe...

It hasn't opened in Japan yet and there is reason to believe it will be big there, DVD/BR sales haven't been included in the earnings yet either. Don't forget, Disney's announced loss was on anticipated revenue up to the end of March.

It's amazing that someone from Forbes can write such a bad article, everyone (but Carol apparently) knows that the picture has to earn at least twice its budget because theatres take at least 40% and then add on the $100M marketing budget JCM needs to take about $600M globally to come into profit and $254M is not even close.

Funny I was going to say that now the picture has made $250M someone would proclaim it in profit, I didn't think that Forbes would be the ones to make such an elementary mistake

I'm also wondering where these Figures for China are coming from as the film's not out there and tracing the picture back to the source the pic has so-far only Cumed a total of $30M (considering that "Kung Fu Panda 2"'s Opening Weekend in China was $30M I'm guessing that JC is only on at a speciality chain.

True, JC, still has to open Japan but no-ones's expecting it to take $300M

Looks like Disney are holding their hands up and admitting the marketing on John Carter was a disaster - http://www.businessweek.com/news/201...avengers-blitz

I LOVED this film. I went to bed after watching and had weird and exotic dreams of adventure and teleportation TWO nights on the go.

Why all the hate? :P

Re the article about marketing I find it annoying that Avengers was predictable and by the numbers and Carter was something new and exciting, and the multi-media juggernaught gets the love. John Carter was far superior to Avengers.
