depends on the film, if its a comedy i like the cinema busy but if its a film i'm really looking forward to i prefer the cinema almost empty. As a student i worked in a cinema and some of my favorate times were watching a film not yet released after closing with a few friends who worked at the cinema.

I much prefer a full cinema.
I remember going to see Last Crusade on opening night and the cinema was packed and everyone was cheering and laughing in all the right places and it made the experience so much better. I recently saw Star Trek in both a full cinema and a mostly empty one and the full cinema experience was the better.

I don't really like going to the cinema these days, the sound system is usually far too loud (to prevent people recording it?), I can't smoke, and they won't pause it when I go to the loo.
Best thing about a crowded cinema is that you get a bigger laugh when watching the interrogation scene in Star Trek, if you shout out "Don't tell him, Pike!" the Duke of York cinema in Brighton is really good.

Fairly full, but with enogh space that you don't have to sit directly behind and next to people.

I prefer an empty cinema as it feels like they are showing the film just for me and i'm in my own personal cinema screen

I prefer an empty screen, that's why I wait a week or more into the run before I go see a film, and then I choose a daytime showing.
I am seeing TF2 on Wednesday...hopefully no kids. |

Never have the problem with people talking or playing with their phone so I prefer a full cinema. But I prefer the rest to arrive once I've chosen my seat of choice
I hate it when you come up the ramp and look around and see a full house meaning that my friends and I have to site apart, wandering around asking if a chair is free or worse still sit right at the front

Preferably empty at all times, whether comedy or not. Well, it's nice to have a few people around when it's a comedy, when I saw Borat there were maybe another 15 folk there and we were all laughing our collective arses off with gasps of 'Holy shit' etc.
I don't recall teh last time I saw a comedy flick in a packed house, tbh the last time I can recall was the midnight preview of Naked Gun2 and a half, me and my mate spontaniously started singing along loudly to the theme tune we were so excited. One drawback for a crowded comedy show I imagine is that if it's a good one you will miss some jokes as folk are still laughing at the last line. My mate said it was like that for him at 'There's something about Mary', and possibly he said 'Superbad' too, I can imagine it for Superbad as there is just line after line of funny stuff there in the conversations. I usually always go to the first showing in the morning of movies, cheaper and emptier. When I went to see 'Sin City' I thought I had the whole room to myself, but then who should come in to spoil my fantasy of millionaire private cinema man, a very old woman being led in slowly by what looked to be her carer. |
