After a LONG delay, The Cabin In The Woods is out now.

So people, was it worth the wait?

Just saw it and...yup! It's great! Funny, clever, scary, making something original out of so many familiar elements. There were a few issues I had, but overall, I recommend seeing it, and knowing as little as possible beforehand.

Yeah.

I'll caution non-horror Whedon fans that there are a few horror bits which are quick but pretty brutal if that's likely to trouble you.

Have to agree with johnone actually. Really enjoyed it and looking forward to watching it again, however despite having managed to avoid any huge spoilers I didn't think the much hyped twist was as mind blowing as it was made out to be. Which is I suppose the danger of making a film when the audience is expecting a huge twist. Damn good fun though.

I will talk about the things I didn't like:
Quote:
Primarilly the VERY end of the movie, where our heroes are content to just let the end of the world happen. I wasn't convinced at all that they'd just do that. I instead was expecting one of two things to happene. Either the "Fool" would die, only for the revelation that the "Virgin" wasn't one to lead to the end of the world anyway because the ritual wasn't done right, which would have got the same ending visual, but let it happen in a more believable way, OR the girl would die, and the stoner would be revealed to be a virgin, and things would be resolved that way, which would have been a nice twist on horror convention in having the Final Girl be a guy for once.
Secondly, the soldier and Amy Acker's character got sort of unceremoniously bumped off, after the film had developed them as being a bit more conflicted/sensitive about the whole situation than their co-workers. I'm not saying they should have turned against the organisation or anything, but I expecter their characterisation to have factored into the ending more, or for their deaths to have elicited a bit more sympathy in how they were portrayed.
