Thank you Paulky, I can't believe there wasn't a time when I wasn't getting kicked all the time as proof we were having a baby & all we had were the pictures

Congrats to Rhian, Kal (and respective partners) - missed these announcements.

Love the baby-gro, Rhian; I reckon he'll be glued to Dr Who.

Thanks for the info! I shall try to remember it when and if we ever spawn offspring.
(Which I hope so, as I'm allowed to give a boy the middle name Davros)

Pampers are by far the better nappie, even supermarket own brand's are better than huggies
Huggies tend to be the best once the baby's about 9 months old from what I remember, and they are certainly far better when they start walking. This is experience with 4 babies, but the youngest is now 9 yrs old. But I have a total of 10 years nappy use to go on.

I was raised on the towl reusable ones. I'd like to do the same for my children, but I'm not sure I could stomach the washing of them all the time!

We use Pampers nappies. We found the Huggies ones leaky too.

I'd like to use re-usable nappies, partly for environmental reasons and also for money-saving reasons.

Having spoken to some friends of mine who have young children, though, I don't know if it's practical - especially with a summer we've just had.

One friend started out with good intentions, but after a week of the nappies not drying as she couldn't hang them outside, and tumble drying them kind of defeating the object of saving money and being good for the environment, she admitted defeat and went and bought disposables.

I used terry nappies for Talas first 4 months and once you're in a routine with them it doesn't feel hassley at all - I permantly had a clothes horse up and the bucket was brilliant as there was no smell. Tala unfortunately developed horrendous nappy rash which looked as though her little nethers had been scalded, I switched to disposables while it got better - then went back to terries but the same thing happened and I admitted defeat. Those Nature collections nappies are lovely I can't get them in south shields so had to stop using them too as it was too hard trying to get them home from newcastle and now use ASDAs own which are very cheap and never leak.

I think the best advice I was given with reusables was not to try them straight away - dealing with a newborn is hard enough without the extra hassle, and if you're looking for a way to make life easier it's generally the first thing to go. So we're waiting to ease into it - the ones we're going for are probably a little big for him at the moment anyway.

Thanks for all the nappy talk guys - my sister has reccommended "The Nappy Lady" website for re-useables - apparently you can get a starter pack of various different designs to try until you figure out which is best for you & the baby

I've had my glucose tolerance test today, pretty ick. No breakfast of coffee this morning, then they make you drink a sugary drink & you have 3 blood tests in 3 hours My arms are sore & bruised.

Had my ante-natal too & the baby has turned from across my tummy to head up/bottom down, making it look like it has grown loads in the last 3 weeks & where last time it was slightly small, I'm now heading for a big baby - eeeep

Oh, and cos I necked breakfast at 11.30am I now have horrible heartburn

On the plus side, our first "Preparing for Parenthood" class is tonight
