It's a nightmare isn't it - we spent weeks avoiding my in-laws as it's practically impossible to go round there and not get drunk

Is feeling weepy and emotional normal?

I sobbed yesterday morning while watching breakfast TV as they had a story about a woman who looked at a photo of the daughter of an internet friend, thought the shadow in her eye looked a bit suss and suggested they get it checked out, only for the family to find the child had a rare form of eye cancer...

And then there was the story of the tortoise lost in a recycling centre yesterday afternoon. I felt a bit rocky over that one - I kept imagining the poor thing being terrified as it travelled through the glass crusher. :?

Oh god, yes - I'm usually steely eyed & am welling up at the drop of a hat at the mo. It's all good though, means the hormones are doing their thing.

Just had a midwife appointment. Heard the heartbeat & sounds of movement on the doppler 8) . So, so happy as she tried last time, but 14 weeks is a bit early really, so nothing then.

Was dreading today in case the same happened, would have felt awful going to our next scan and expecting the worst, so it was fab to hear those little squishy sounds

I know, scans and dopplers are great for reassurance, seeing their outline or hearing their heart beat strongly, it's amazing.

I'm 31+5 now, no more scans but I get hourly kicks and punches in the ribs to let me know he's there!

I know I'm a bit late coming to the conversation...

Our first is due in early December. I'm fairly sure the wife is 27+2 today.

The wife is experiencing the joy of bladder kicking, baby moving as well as a sore back and at one point suspected DVT (it wasn't. they have no idea why her knee is swelling which is a bit of a worry).

Roll on early december. I can't wait!

Probably too simplistic, but could the swelling be because of the extra weight your wife is carrying? I know how you feel with the excitement, my wife ended up 15 days late with a 36 hour wait from induction, i was ready to burst by then!! When my daughter finally decided it was time to make an appearance i was far too tired to be excited and my poor wife had had too long awake, plus an epidural, plus going through surgery because the little one had to be cut out alien style. We both just felt "finally can we sleep now?"
