That was an enjoyable opening episode. I thought we'd see Joe Flanigan for more than a few minutes since he had a bit of background set up.
I have to wonder what the in universe explanation for the bridge is, did it just happen on it's own or did someone else activate the machine? |

I like this one. It wasn't jump out brilliant but it was a great scene setter.
I bit the bullet and advised my colleague that if he's DVR'd this to watch but also advised that he catch up sharpish if possible. All in all I think that the new eyes of Orange Lincoln and the previously on recap set enough of the scene to get along. Mind you I'm the mad man who only watched the season 5 finale and season 6 of Lost and felt up to speed so I could be talking out of my Bat's you know what. The bits that came over as mysterious were supposed to be mysterious to old and new viewers alike I thought. The only thing is not knowing of course of the observers and shapeshifters etc. I'm missing walternate and Alternate Lincoln though. Also, let's all remember there WILL be an alternate Joe F. Let's hpe he's alive, well, wise cracking and appearing soon.

I was also pretty surprised at Joe Flanigan's hasty demise. It was a bit monster of the week but I'm a Lincoln fan so I enjoyed that episode a lot, and Astrid actually getting out of the lab and giving a helping hand in the field always gets a cheer from me too. John Noble gave a glorious performance as usual but day Anna Torv is starting to look bored.
Surely poor old Charlie deserved a mention when Olivia was chatting to Lincoln about colleagues that they'd lost in the field! Well he's called Lincoln Lee so alternatively we could call him Alternativelee. Maybe. Perhaps. I dunno.

As for the episode, i'm just glad Fringe is back. Plus, you know it's a good episode when Walter declares "I'm going to need to look at her anus"

Was anyone paying enough attention to note if it was different fringe sciences coming up in the intro? I was too busy going 'oooh, pretty', I'm afraid. I look forward to the episode where they have enough different universes to give a sort of rainbow effect.
![]() Good solid start, I thought. Seems like it would be a good place for newbies to start, although when things start unravelling (as I suspect they will), they're gonna have a lot of catching up to do. Raised a lot of questions for me, this episode: if Olivia is wearing blue shirt, did she take part in the cortexiphan trials? Did Walter stop experimenting on children after the second loss of Peter (I'm assuming that he still kidnapped him but couldn't save him, due to the 'some people die twice' comment)? Why does Seth Gabel look so damn attractive in those awful glasses? Why did the Observer save Peter to start with, and why won't he erase him now? I thought she was playing Olivia more like she was at the beginning - more closed down as she hasn't had a partner for a while, as no Peter in the Orangeverse. Plus she's probably still a bit closed off from Fauxlivia impersonating her, as again there's no Peter around. Quote:
One more thing: that transparent skin thing. Where have I seen that before? |
