It's my all time, hands down, favorite Punisher story and in my top 5 comic stories by ANYONE, lol , which includes DK Returns, Watchmen, Born Again, Slavers. Just too let you know. Lol


And the Fury max TPB is great , did you know about the new Fury Max limited series coming out by Ennis and Goran Parlov?

It has a cameo by our fav Vigilante as well, so I have been told....

BORN actually fits in very well with the current story line, so I'm actually quite glad I've not read it before now.

It's a very interesting look at Frank - I think that it's his spider-bite, gamma bomb, cosmic rays moment - as you really see what makes him tick. To me it made Frank out to be a complete and utter machine, driven by the need to create some kind of order in all the chaos around him, and anyone who threatens it he kills. From that, he realises that once he;s started, he can't stop. That makes him all the more frightened knowing he's going back to a normal life and he can't carry on doing what he's doing because of his family, which if you take the current run, ties in with the idea that he's glad his family are gone because he hasn't got to worry about them anymore.

Fury? Ennis? Parlov? Can't wait.

I thought the voice talking to Frank was The Devil himself, sort of convincing Frank to give in to his inner demons?

Good point, yea see this is what I thought the first time I read BORN, for two reasons, first one is that the voice says he is known by many names? As the Devil is, and that Frank was tempted in too making the Deal , which the Devil is known for doing..


But NO!

Ennis states quiet clearly in the extras of the Hard Cover Trade of Born that it's Death, that talks to Frank, and that is why Frank wears Deaths head on his chest ( The Skull ).

Just picked it up today - brilliantly ties in with Born which I have just read, so it makes it even better with that being fresh in the memory. They are humanising Frank a bit, which I suppose after years of MAX issues of him being an unstoppable machine, you've got to take him in a different direction.

I don't think it's going to last for long though - the line about "going to the park" from his wife infers we're going to see the execution, and that will parallel something in prison that renews the fire within him to start fighting again.

And have read all the MAX stuff now, eagerly await each issue - thinking about trying some Deadpool now...

I started reading it, then stopped - I went off it a bit. There was an issue with a nurse, and I have bad memories of nurses. I do love Deadpool though, might start picking up the TPB's

Meant to post a while back, what did people think about "In the Blood?" For me it wasn't bad, and had some nice moments, particularly liked the idea that being frank's assistant is really bad for your health

In The Blood , I enjoyed quite a bit, in fact a lot more than I thought I would, it came across very old school, as in Pre Ennis.

There was a writer that wrote the Punisher back n the late 80's, called Mike Baron, who used to have gritty Punisher stories , but with fantastic elements, but unlike Say Matt Fraction from a few years back , Baron never let these elements in his stories, take away from the Punishers character, not all where great , but more often then not Barons work on the Punisher was very entertaining , just like In The Blood was .

Now am not saying In The Blood is an old fashioned 80's comic, it's not, some of the violence is on power with the Punisher MAX, and has a nicely paced story with twists, it's just the vibe of the story with the 616 universe included, and full on Punisher action make it a fun read, even if it does have an uneven tone, it's out in trade soon well worth picking up if your a Punisher fan, might be a bit lost on the casual fan though....

Oh and some great art from Roland Boschi who does all the art bar one issue, and thank god the fill in artist is very close to RB's art...


Glad to hear you liked this Pie Man you reading any other Punisher ? At the moment ? Have you finished Punisher MAX Ennis ? Are you intending to read , any more Punisher and have you heard Greg Rucka is coming on to write the 616 Punisher in August ?
