Default New Forum Hints & Tips

Thought it might be an idea to put your hints and tips in here to help others. So if you have discovered something cool about our new home, or have worked something out that generated a "Eureka" moment, post it here.

Perhaps best we avoid questions in this thread, stick those in the New Forum/Website thread.

Pressing "CTRL-" in most browsers will help with that bloody search bar getting in the way.

Going to User CP lists topics you've posted on recently and is easier for forum navigation than finding the forum jump key.

To Multiquote, click on the multiquote button for each post you want to quote and then click on a quote button to post a multiquote post.

Quick link to the vBulletin BBcode page, for reference. A lot of this may be disabled on this forum, we'll have to see.

In the "Networking" part of the User CP section, we can now add photos and create albums. When viewing images, you get code to add them to posts, rather than having to add them to an image hosting site. I've been using this good simple site for resizing images and creating avatars too

To get easier access to italics, bold, fonts, smilies etc., change your editing option to WYSIWYG: User CP>Edit Options.

Gives you a word type interface.

Right: how on earth do I make this new forum not look like arse?

I don't need a list of all the latest posts clogging up half the screen. Is there anyway to get rid of that?
I've been through all the options and can't find any way of customising how the forum appears. Right now, it's ugly as sin and making me not want to use it.

Help. I like this froum, but the current look is really bad.

I have no idea what you mean by this. The thread layout is superficially identical to the way it was before, with all the threads with new contributions below the stickies. The only way I know to get a list of the latest posts is to click the New Posts button in the function bar.

As for reskinning the forum: as yet we have no alternative skins available. It may be that the SFX Peons are working on an alternate colour scheme for later implementation. subSilver would probably break the site frame layout, though.

At present there are no plans for alternative skins for this forum, so please don't hold back in getting acclimatised to this design.
