Is it a real chore then? I've heard it was relatively light-hearted and didn't require much in the way of grindage...

The actual world map sections aren't too bad...most of the creatures are fairly defeatable, however now and again you'll either stumble across a random creature or boss battle which will have you reeling and will completely decimate your party.

Luckily you can usually gauge when a boss bottle is coming up thanks to the helpfully signposted save points, but some of them have been so hard I've had to go back and start battling piddly creatures for a few hours to level up a bit more first. :-(

The music in the game, (getting back on track,) isn't even overly memorable, although it does use a few Chopin pieces from time to time to give you random info-dumps about his life history. (Which seem only to bear a tentative link to the plots of the game.)

The original Resident Evil and the voice acting still makes me cringe. I was considering trying for a no save play-through but I'm glad I didn't, I've died a lot. Modern games with checkpoints every few seconds and enough ammo to invade a country really do spoil you. Oh and the hunter's one hit kill is a cheap shot.

Do you get some sort of special reward for going through the game without saving? As hard as that game is, I would expect Jill to climb out of the TV with deeds to the mansion in her hand.

It contributes to the rank you get at the end of the game, the more saves/time/first aid sprays you use the lower your rank. I'd be lucky to get a D at the rate I'm going now.

I may dig out me RE2 and Nemesis when I'm finished.

Plowing through the Ballad of Gay Tony, immense fun, base jumping incredibly annoying, but I love the drug wars, then again I am a fighter, not a flier ;-)

if you beat it under a certain time without saving (and maybe without uising health sprays) you get an infinite ammo rocket launcher in subsequent playthroughs.

Generally though, by the time you've unlocked it, you've probably shown you don;t need it... still, its nice to go back through one-shotting everything that gave you bovver.

Limbo - what a short but very sweet game if a little freaky. Picked it up on Steam, black and white (shadow puppet like) very little special effects and plays homage to old school 2D puzzle adventure games.

Puzzles are good not overly complicated nor straight forward simple.

Only complaint is its very short. 16 minutes of play and I was half way through.

With only four controls (back, forward, jump and action) good for my simple brain to deal with.

All in all a great little game 4 / 5 (the deaths are particularly good!)
