I'm from the United States and I manage a comic book website and co-host a comic podcast. (Both of which I won't plug because I fully respect your site) I'm a new member on the SFX forum and I'm really glad to see that comics are alive and well across the pond.

What can I do to get the Comic Heroes mag carried in the US? Is it available through our main solication company DIAMOND PREVIEWS? I know some shops that carry SFX...but they are few and far between. I think it's important that everyone spread the word about this project. Anything involving promoting things in the comic industry is VERY important.

Nice one It's really great that there are people being vigilant (excuse the pun) and looking for new avenues with which to promote comics. What shape is the US market in at the moment? Are you getting more 'non geek' customers in as a result of the movies and stuff?

Thanks for the reply! The market over here stateside is pretty volatile in my opinion...the biggest debate being print comics vs digital comics. Many creators and brick and mortar stores are drawing "battle lines" on this topic and while I haven't seen much slowdown in the comic collector's market (which is the business I'm in directly) I know for a fact that comic shops are loosing at least SOME buyers into their stores because of it. Me personally, I go to my LCS every Wednesday for New Comic Day and pick up my standard comics, my shop has had to change it's ordering habits and go heavier on miniature gaming, CCG card games and more to help supplement what they claim to have lost.

I'm only 38, but I'm an old school reader and collector who grew up reading comics. I'm working on an extensive MARVEL Silver and Bronze Age Key collection.

I think ANY comic-oriented publication, (especially one that carries the SFX brand behind it) should be encouraged and promoted in any way possible. Readers and collectors need to unite and keep this industry heading in the right direction whether it's here or abroad. It can only help the genre
