It has been announced that Joel Goldsmith has died from Cancer.Goldsmith, son of famed composer Jerry Goldsmith was never as successful as his dad in film scores (Although he did compose a large chunk of Star Trek First Contact ) composing work for films such as Kull The Conquerer, Moon 44 and the Man with two brains .However in Television he was a behemoth the equal to his father. Goldsmith was the man behind the music for the entire Stargate Franchise and Sanctuary along with individual shows such as the Outer Limits.
It is rare when you notice the music to tv drama but Goldsmith ever since the second episode of Stargate :sg1(Watch and listen again to the soundtrack in the final struggle between Teal C and Kowalsk) made you sit up and take notice and that is a rare talent.
Joel Goldsmith was 54.
