Mary Beard is great; she’s like Phil Harding’s posher sister. I’ve really been enjoying her series on the Romans and hope to see her presenting more programmes.

Its nice to see the Beeb encouraging ‘normal’ looking presenters, particularly where they have a level of expertise in their subject. I love to see Ruth Goodman on The One Show as she’s interesting, engaging and enthsiastic and I’ll watch anything with Lucy Worsley in.

Brick is clearly a pointless publicity seeker

I’m with HH, the day I watch pretty much anything with the word ‘Celebrity’ it will be a cold day in Hull!

I'm not a big fan of topgear, but the few times I've watched it with a friend, I've always come away with the impression that everyone on the show, Clarkson included, is very much aware that he is a buffoon not to be taken seriously when not talking in strictly a technical sense.

On the show he's fine it's the rent-a-column I hate x, y and z columns he and others are making that I find annoying
