Good luck! Let us know when it's available to read on your blog!

Got a rejection from alt.hist magazine Saturday. This is a bit of an old story now, although I do still like it but it's had trouble finding a home, think I originally wrote it for the Alibi short story comp two years ago now. Think it's gonna go into the anthology I'll put on Kindle. Think it's be a good fit.

Still working on my novel (30,000 words so far!) and have been writing a rather grim little tale that I'm hopfully gonna send off to Black Static this week. also need to get my submission into Black Library this week.

Need to stop writing new stories and concentrate on hawking the ones I've already got round more as I'm sure some of them could find a home somewhere! Trouble is writing them is more fun than the selling part!

A couple of weeks ago I was given the prompt Oban by one of my followers on Twitter. From that I got THIS.

Now I begin work on the prompt Australis posted above, well not a prompt, the last line of the story.

Thats very interesting, and definitely feels like an entry point into another world, something you're thinking of writing?

On a single pedantic point, it's charnal house, a carnal house would be something else entirely!

A foretaste of something I am writing, four chapters in & aiming for a novella. Oban is part of the backstory/mythology.

See, that's why beta readers are so valuable!

Actually, it's charnel house. Go to gamma readers for the ultimate in pedantry!

Sorry to hear about the rejection, but like you say, it's a good feeling having written in the first place.

Pill Hill are running flash fic subs again this year, also Dark Fiction Magazine are open for subs until July 13th for Hidden History flash fic.

Sent my entry in for the Fantasy-Faction comp on Friday night, one day before the deadline. Given that, according to the website, they’ve received over 1500 entries, I’m not expecting to get anywhere with this, but I’m glad I’ve given it a shot. I went for the Entry Plus option too, so it will be interesting to receive feedback on the story and see what they make of it.

I also realised that, on and off, I’d been working on this story for nine months, so I guess I’ve just given birth to it, in a sense (and it was quite a difficult birth at times too!!)
