This is a little bit of a non-story as:

1. He already said so in the Forest of the Dead commentary

2. River implies she flirts with cleopatra in Wedding of River Song.

also in Rose the Doctor mentioned that a marriage in a mag he looked at would never work as "shes an alien and hes gay" so he is more than aware of what its all about

More a half-story for me as i haven't heard the commentary & had forgotten the dialogue from "Wedding..."

... By writing reference into Doctor Who story broadcast on BBC1.

Classic. Guess it's a slow news day.

Well, it was news to me :-)
I also hadn't listened to the commentary, and had missed that line.

I will admit it's a bit in-passing. I probably noticed it better as I've watched it about 28 times now....

Who cares? Not as though there hasn't been a homosexual character in Who recently. I am no fan of River or Moffatt, but it was hardly him (for a change) making a grandiose announcement. He was only responding to a question.

oh FFS - fictional character with no discernable sex life, in a programme which is a pre-watershed SF adventure watched by children...a character turns out to be bisexual - in the writers head only

oooh, how daring, how outre...

apart from Moffat, who cares whether River Song prefers to fuck men, or women [or both, or neither]?

does it make any difference to how you watch Doctor Who?

it doesn't to me...any more than Jack Harkness' alleged off-screen [and eventually on-screen] sexual preferences did
