why not keep some very sticky self-adhesive labels and a black permanent marker in your car, and stick the label on their rear window with this slogan written on it

Park somewhere else next time
YOU SELFISH ****

with **** being the obscenity of your choice - you'll feel better and they will have peel the sticker off their window

it might not work, but they'll get the message...

I did once leave a sign on a badly parked car taking up two bays saying something to the effect of ‘Congratulations! You have won the crap parking of the year award!’

Juvenile, but fun.

Abuse of disabled spaces really annoys me, particularly when you see cars parked, often on double yellow lines, with some bloke sitting in reading the paper waiting for the, supposedly, disabled person to return.

If they are that disabled, shouldn’t they get out and help them with their shopping?

I think its also against the rules to do that, and my Dad who has a blue badge because he really can’t walk very far at all has ranted at people doing just this.

Being so very English, I usually give people my best dirty look if I see them parking in disabled bays…that’ll teach ‘em I think to myself, before sloping off in the hope that they don't say anything!

I know of one, young able-bodied person who took her parents badge on holiday with her so she could park while at the seaside. Disgusting behaviour and, while I wouldn’t wish a disability on her, I hope when she I old and can’t find a parking space she remembers what she did.

That's not the only reason. It is also so that parents don't have to negotiate a potentially busy and hazardous car park with children in tow. Children being small and therefore hard to see when you're reversing out of a space, and also prone to running about when they shouldn't. Of course the parents should have their kids under control but it can be easier said than done, and it only takes a second for a child to run ahead.

My local Asda has a problem whereby there are cash machines adjacent to the disabled/parent & child bays, and subsequently ignorant people either park in the spaces or double park, blocking cars in, so they can use the ATM.

It is, however, reassuring to see how many building firms employ disabled staff these days. Quite a high percentage of builders are disabled these days, going by the number of white vans I see parked in disabled spaces at Asda. Many of these firms also encourage their staff to bring their kids to work.

Perhaps bringing in some sort of 'disabling' system might work.

If anyone not entitled to park in a disabled space does so, large hammers come out of the ground and shatter their kneecaps. Therefore rendering them forever eligible to use the disabled bays.

Just a thought.

It is true children are at risk in a car park but I dont think they are any more at risk than anyone else. I just cant see the justification for the spaces apart from the width.

ahh the cash point cripples yes its amazing how unwilling people are to walk to get their money out. My local shop has a bus stop outside apparently the definition of bus extends to anyone just popping into the shop. I often feel like carrying a stock off leaflets pointing out the difference between buses and cars for the hard of thinking who park there.

Children do not have the hazard awareness of adults and due to their lack of height cannot easily be seen in a rear view mirror when reversing, hence them being at greater risk than adults. Granted short-arsed adults face a similar risk.

Last Tuesday this week the gang of chavvy looking dipsticks who parked in the disabled area nearly aggressively barged into me when they went back to their illicitly parked vehicle...

That's a great idea and would be even better if the stickers were those that are designed to be hard to remove. Although I must confess that for a number of years I myself did abuse a blue badge belonging to my mother. Saved me a fortune in parking fees. But it was still wrong of me to abuse the scheme.

been watching this thread in interest. My mum has a blue badge as she has severe arthritis in both knees and one foot and can't walk any distance. she has to plan trips out around the distances between places to sit

Now she also lives in cheshire not far from footballer/millionaire country. It is absolutely amazing just how many of these rich people are disabled, judging by the way they must ll park in the disabled spots. do feel sorry for them in their big disco's and high end Jags. And their children must be double afflicted as it is apprently necessary for their mothers to use the disabled parking in order to get the dear little mites out of the car to go shopping.

Yes, you read that right, in East Cheshire it is the frickin norm for the parents to use the disabled spaces because they have the kids with them, and don't want to park 20 yards further over in the parent and child spaces.

Its getting to the point the disabled are having to park in the parent and child as all the frickin inbred parents are parked in the disabled spaces!!!!!!!!!!!!!
