Did anyone else see the special three minute trailer in the first ad break of Homeland? Showed some very strange Cobra like snake aliens and a running progenitor/pilot alien. Only a few weeks to wait now!

One of the cinema chains is listing the rating as "15 tbc" ; so they at least don't think it'll be 12A

Ridley Scott's 'Prometheus' lands R rating?
This is pleasing to hear. Let's be honest. We all started to get a bit worried at the thought this film was going to be a 12A which would of pretty much made it less appealing (for me at least). Glad to see commom sense has prevailed with the studio. I now sit back and await the release date so I can see this and hopefully be as scared as I was again at the age of 13 (20yrs ago) when I first watched Alien.

Hmmm. I don't think that's as conclusive as the article assumes.
You can also buy 'pre-sale' tickets for the Prom here in the UK. I don't know what rating they've put on it, if anything, but even if they list a rating, it could be (as my entry above) 'tbc'. 15/R is likely the highest rating, so that's what they're going to assume ticket wise (rather than 12A/PG13, where if it later got rated higher, they may have to refund tickets to kiddies who've already bought one).

I've just been reading the book "The Alien Vault", which is a big look at how the original movie was made. There are a couple of interesting paragraphs about Ridley Scott's ideas for the backstory and design of the Space Jockey which I'd be interested to see replicated on the big screen.
I'll try and find a transcription and post it later, but the main point is that the book hints that while everyone may have felt sorry for the Space Jockey because he had been chestbursted, there is nothing to suggest that the species was benign at all, and may have a dark secret of their own...

And confirmed R in the USA. And Guillermo Del Toro says that Prometheus has killed his attempt at bringing In At The Mountains of Madness to the big screen. Apparently the plots are extremely similar : Quote:
