Default SFXY Crafts

We 've got a Drawing Thread but I can't seem to find the Craft Thread.

The past year I've been putting together a ephemera box for a friends birthday. For your delectation and delight may I present the Miskatonic Box of Mystery...

Documents pertaining to Insanity (I've always said my friend was nuts, now she's got a certificate to prove it!) Although not pictured There is also a Miskatonic University Library card and Overdue Notice (for some book called the Necrocommunicon) plus a telegram message.

A Small handwritten grimoire/journal with cards.

The traditional thing in a jar

mysterious organic samples

Innsmouth pottery shard with archaeological notes

Unidentified religious scroll

Miskatonic University stamp. Not pictured but Ialso chucked in a small brass compass, a miniature telescope, a folding ruler, a key and some arabic coins as well

Meet Cyril, the star of the show.

...utterly fantastic photos deleted....
Did you make all of that? How long did it take? It's sheer genius! Cyril is obviously the high point, but that grimoire looks fabulous.

Anyone on here own and use an airbrush with compressor? Just set ours up, and the instructions are written in pigdin english by someone who obviously never learnt the language. Got the compressor going fine, and one airbrush that uses like a little metal pot that attaches (though will have to replace as it came apart and now the connection is jammed into the airbrush ).

However am failing miserably at getting the airbrush to spray paint from the bottles. Just won't pull the paint through even though its thinned down.

Any idea how to get it to pull the paint through as it would make my life so much easier as I have one model on the go, another in a box waiting painting and another on order from asia, all of which need to be done with an air brush for a smooth effect.

Hi mosquito617! I have an airbrush and it's great, when you get it going that is! The first question I would ask is "is is a dual action airbrush?". The reason being that it probably has a trigger button on top and a switch near the back. If that switch is set to 'dual mode' then you can depress your trigger to release air but you have to pull it back to release paint. The idea is that you can then control the amount of air and paint as you wish.

However if you push the switch (or roller) the opposite way, it'll go into single action mode which means when you depress the trigger BOTH air and paint will come out. If you're new to airbrushing the single action mode is where you need to start - just to get your eye in, once you're happy with that pop it over to dual and experiment (probably on a sheet of paper not an expensive model!)

If it hasn't got a roller or switch it could be a fixed dual action one, still worth giving the depress and pull back method a go just in case.

Give it a go and report back!

Hi, it isn't a dual action, i just press for air then pull back for paint. i got one going fine with the bucket, but i really need to use it with the bottles, and that particular brush just won't pull the paint through. i'll have another look at the brush itself to see if there is anything i need to do with it as i can get it to put air through no problem, but even when i pull the trigger back too it just will not put paint through.

Hmm interesting. Perhaps it can't do that? Did it come with a bottle attachment? Some are gravity feed only... Or there could be a blockage somewhere - I assume you can remove the spray tips to see if they're clogged up?
