Anyone else looking forward to the classic style XCOM remake (not the FPS)

I was pretty luke warm about it until I read a preview in PC Gamer, and I thought it looked really good. It interested me far more than the FPS remake as that doesnt feel like XCOM to me. I wasnt the biggest fan in the world of the classic XCOM but I did spend quite a few hours on it on the Amiga. I feel I could get into this one more easily if its shinier but still true to the originals mechanics. Hope its not a let down like some remakes of other games are.

I loved rebel star on my spectrum and played x-com terror from the deep on ps1, i'm hoping for something along the lines of valkyria chronicles, 3d but turn based with tactics and a homebase resource side to it as well.

I havnt heard of rebel star but I was a commodore 64 guy so not sure if it made it onto that. I think this new remake sounds like youd like it then Aeyjay, seems to tick all the boxes from what youve mentioned

Its sounds horrible.

Squad sizes are no more than 6.

They say the devs were big fans of the original, and want it to stay true to the spirit.

But half of the fun was trying to develop your army of redshirts, not squad of super heros. And anyway, the UFO: series already did this.

This is just going to be like Commandos in space. A massive reload fest.

Whats the point of remaking a classic if its not better?

I prefer Xcom Apocalypse as the true follow on.

I never really tended to use many more than 6 guys on a mission at a time anyway. And it's not remotely close to being Commandos in space (if you are indeed refering to the old commandos games) as those involed a team all individually with very specific set skills not to mentiion a different game play focus.

It's beling like claiming Speedball would be like doubles Tennis if you limited the teams to two-a-side.
