errh, something about a Sublimed civilisation, and why the Culture hasn't, possibly, but don't quote me on that
as he's probably still writing/polishing it at the moment...

Lol. To be fair on him other authors would have skirted round the sublimed. Read charles stross views on why he ain't doing more books in the Eschaton series. To paraphrase he just can't think of a reveal that doesn't feel an anticlimax and he made to much of the Eschaton in the first 2 books to just ignore it now. I really hope tha Iain is taking his time revealing specifics about the sublimed as to do it properly.

I do like the way that in the last few books we see that other (older) species have taken the culture's view on subliming, the everything a season and slightly suspicous sort of approach. I personally see the reveal to be that subliming ain't all its cracked upto be.

It's 100% a Culture novel (not that there was much doubt about that, but still) according to the publishers.

That's pretty awesome, considering his last book was a Culture one too. We normally have to wait years for the next one!

If it is on a par with Surface Detail then I am a happy bunny.

If you're in the south west, why don't you come to the launch of the book? SFX will be there at Topping & Company Booksellers in October.
