Glee Season Three on Sky
Auditions.
It was an excellent, confident return to Glee. Starting off with a video montage updating us on what happened over the summer gave them a chance to take the piss out of the critics questions over the show. Asking Lea Michele "are you difficult to work with", shows that she is either pretty stupid, or, and this is most likely, she isn't difficult at all to work with, and they are showing that by sending it up. We learn of the departure of Asian (or is it Other Asian?), that Mike and Tina are now together (poor Artie), that Rachel and Finn are in love and will never leave each other (how many episodes will that last for?), and that Kurt is still getting slushied.
The new teacher in town was a bit of a weird one. In some scenes we are clearly supposed to feel sorry for her, but in others she was so horrible that you didn't want to feel sorry for her again. It was good to see Will and Sue team up over something.
Sunshine was fantastic, and her vocals on her song Listen were phenomonal. Reminded me of Mercedes' solo in the Sectionals episode. I can see why Rachel was worried about her. I did enjoy their Telephone sing-off, and it was hilariously interrupted by Sue, maybe a little too early as I wanted to hear more. Empire State Of Mind was a bit tacky, but was well staged. After hearing Sunshine's solo it was great to hear Rachel do one too - after the great "new" voice of the new kid, it was brilliant to go back to something more comfortable (and let's face it, better). She did some *GREAT* Rachel faces as well. The other new kid - good voice, and looking forward to seeing some more from him.
And so Rachel messed up, sent the new girl to a crack house, and she defected and joined Vocal Adrenaline. Good, as we will now see more of her at some point, but bad because New Directions probably won't win again.
Good for Quinn to be back in the Cheerios, she clearly loved putting the uniform back on, and the fight between her and Santana was brilliant and actually a little brutal. Breast implants? Really? And Brittany, in what little she had to do, was of course funny. "People though I went on vacation this summer, but I was lost in the sewers". She really is great.
So glad it's back.
