I haven't actually read this book, but I read a review at the time and it sounded interesting. For the life of me can't remember what it's called. Thought it was The Sleeper but can't find anything to match.
It's a recent book, published a year or so ago, about a man who wakes up to an empty world. He travels across Europe trying to figure out what happened. As time goes on, he increasingly becomes aware that somebody is undoing the work he does during the day - and comes to suspect that another personality is taking over him when he is 'asleep'. Any ideas?

I vaguely remember reading a short story, many years ago, that I very much want to know the title and author of.
The sketchy details I do recall are that a bunch of astronauts visit a strange planet, searching for previous expedition which has gone missing. They encounter aliens (monkey-like?) which keep making a sound like `Kopec` (or some similar spelling). At the end of the story it is revealed that the aliens are actually the people they are looking for, and that the `Kopec` sound is them trying to warn them to `Go back`. Any ideas? I recall this story was in an illustrated collection of horror/sci-fi stories, which I borrowed from library - and I'd very much like to track it down (if not the actual book, the story itself). Help? |

Found out what this is now. Night Work by Thomas Glavinic. Apparently he's German and the review I saw was for the English translation. Will have to keep my eyes out for it
