I'm going to pimp a variety of stuff, some of which is mine, some of which isn't but deserves pimping anyway:
Pantechnicon: Quarterly PDF, far more regular website and forum. Brand new SF/F/H stories every three months as well as articles, interviews, and all the usual stuff you'd find in a magazine. Bi-weekly podcast. Reviews are frequently posted to the website. May soon be going bi-monthly. Will keep you posted. Hub: Weekly SF/F/H. Features a story and another piece each week (an article, a couple of reviews, or some such. Varies from week to week). Subscribe and have it deposited in your inbox. GeekPlanet: Brand new SFF site with articles, reviews, opinion, and webcomic. Suck it and see ![]() The British Science Fiction Association: C'mon. Until recently, Arthur C. Clarke was in charge. These guys organise EasterCon every year, and produce some excellent magazines for members. The British Fantasy Society: They do for Fantasy and Horror what the BSFA do for Science Fiction. They organise FantasyCon every year. Between the two organisations (both non-profit) they sort out the country's two largest literary genre conventions. The Phoenix Requiem: Brilliant webcomic from Sarah Ellerton. Graphic novel format, with 4-5 new pages released every week. Highly addictive, stunning art. |

I wrote an article for the internet review of science fiction some years back. I won't bother telling you anything else about that except to say that the online magazine is very enjoyable and literate.

If Orin is around; he may need to know there's something wrong with the counter for Geek Planets launch.

Hmm, I'm not getting a counter for GeekPlanet, I'm getting the front page. Did you visit the site before it went live? It's possible your browser or ISP has cached the page and is showing you an old version, then your browser's doing the maths and going "31st July? Why, that's almost a year away!"

On the advice of the lovely Leah, I going to prostitute my wares...well sort of!
Those of a creative dispostion might want to cast a glance here.crafteroo It's not in the least bit related to SFX, because it's virginal and new...but those reading the craft thread will know that creativity runs through my family like Boris Johnson through Lime Street Station and now a new forum exist to show/talk/exhibit your wares! I'm sure there's something for everyone, if they look hard enough...and if not...create it yourself. Cheers Cheers Leah too! |

Nothing to do with SF (unless you count sci-fi books), but I'd like to pimp Team Read - the nationwide library summer reading challenge for children. Stuck with things to do with your children in the holiday? Pop down to your local library, register, and they can get prizes for reading books!
And if they join up in Merton Library Service, everyone who reads the whole 6 books gets their name entered in a draw to win a Nintendo Wii!! (Join at Morden Library, so I can get my numbers up and beat everyone else!)
