Shigeru MIyamoto's original game, The Legend of Zelda, will be 26 years old next week (February 21st). That's as old as classic Who! (Although Zelda's fortunes seem to be a bit more favourable than Doctor Who's were at the time). I'm just getting stuck into Skyward Sword but I'm ashamed to say I've never played the original. How about everyone else? And does anyone have a particular favourite amongst the Zelda canon?

![]() I first played Link's Awakening on the original Game Boy, and it's still one of my all-time favourite games. I didn't pick up the other games until much later when I nabbed a golden Zelda-themed GBA. The first game just about holds up, but damn is it hard! The clues the game gives you are so bloody cryptic, I ended up having to resort to GameFAQs to find some of the later dungeons... |

I really need to go back to the earlier Zelda games, as I'm quite a late convert to the world of Hyrule. Twilight Princess on the Wii was my first experience and I've recently played a few of the DS games - Phantom Hourglass and a bit of Spirit Tracks.
I've also just stumbled across a group called the Hyrule Hustlers. A live, multi-game marathon for chariy. Sounds pretty hardcore!

You simply must play A Link To The Past and Ocarina of Time. Both utter classics, I really like Majora's Mask as well but that one is bit more of an opinion divider.

Wow! I have got fond memories of Zelda. I played it on the NES, one the Gameboy, on the SNES and on the N64 (ocorina of time) what a game that was!!
I got lost on other consoles and lost track of it since but I have recently been very tempted to but a wii just for skyword sword (as it has had so many positive reviews and feedback). I just need more time to play computers. |

My brother is a full-time beta tester with a penchant for older games, and he's just written a retrospective on The Minish Cap for our blog, which sounds like another interesting title. It makes reference to a pair of games - Ocarina of Ages and Ocarina of Seasons - that could be played separately and then linked together, to provide a bigger, more immersive game with a different ending. All fun stuff, but I just wish I had enough hours in the day!

More than any game series I love Zelda. There isn't a bad game in the series, though there is differences in the quality. The two DS games and TP are probably the worst for me, and I'd say they were easily 8/10 games.
