Currently not watching the Complete Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya which has apparently been released in the US recently. Not sure if I should wait for that to come out over here or just buy the remaining volumes... oh well.

If they release an uber-sexified complete set with all the CDs, pillowcases and stickers and whatnot from the individual releases, I'll hold out for that...

The first opening is far and away my favourite, though a couple of the others come close for various reaosns.

Saw a few more episodes of Death Note the other day. There's something about that show that really makes me feel they're doing something very wrong, but I can't quite place my finger on what it is. I may have to check out the manga to see if it's just something being lost in the transition to TV.

How far into Death Note are you?

It could just be that manga elements are being trimmed out for the adaptation - 12 volumes into 37 25-minute episodes doesn't go very cleanly. The early episodes were really faithful, as I recall, but I actually lost track of the anime when I moved house and haven't caught up yet (really should bring those volume two DVDs that are sitting on my desk home with me...), so if you're quite far in then that could be the problem.

Up to episode 12 I think it was. They'd just introduced the blonde girl whose name I forget, and played the tennis match.

Misa Amane, is vol 2 of Death Note out now?

Leah Holmes 25-07-2008 03:33 PM

It goes on sale on 28 July, so Monday.

I have press privileges, of course ;)

igniz13 25-07-2008 09:15 PM

Monday? Well that's annoying, I could've picked it up tommrow.. if it were out on Saturday

Oh well...

Anyway

FORGOTTEN PLANET IN LONDON IS HAVING AN ANIME SALE!

Picked up the complete Macross Saga for £25 and Cowboy Bepop Movie for £6. More impressed with the former saving but hey.

Simoun Vol. 4, it's all starting to make kind of sense now with what the Emerald Ri Majon can do. The only thing I don't like about this series it seems to have been marketed as Yuri when it's blatantly not. It's like Media Blasters didn't have faith in the story and thought "We'll just say it's got girls lezzing up in it to bring in the punters." It deserves better.

Yes, the members of Chor Tempest are all female, but the story's world explains why that is and it didn't come across as some half-assed excuse to me. The idea of sexual innocence/purity an religion is age old.* Sorry, rant over.

And on the subject of Death Note, I'll just add my voice to saying that the live action films are all kinds of ace. The fella that plays L is especially worthy of praise IMO, he's got the mannerisms down pat.

Has anyone seen L Change the World though, and is it worth getting in?

*In the story's world people are born female, and later on in life visit a Spring to decide their final gender. Only people who've not done this can pilot Simoun, which are kind of 'Holy Airplanes' style of thing.
