I got Speed Grapher volume 1 free through SFX.

Its good, interesting, but you WILL be going 'oh my god, thats f***ed up!' quite a bit.

I'm specifically thinking of the heroines (evil) mum and the schoolteacher...

Also, 'self defence!' is so catchy.

Finished the Benizakura arc of Gintama last night. Really enjoyed it, very entertaining, but I can't help but question why the writers decided to pull off a storyline like that.

They'd gone through the vast majority of the series to date with only the odd standalone episode reference to the serious, wider political issues in this screwed-up Edo, which worked because unless I'm really missing the point, this is a comedy show. But then they decide to dump the main characters in it all at once. So, my question to anyone who's watched further is; do they do that again? Or is this Gintama's only long-ish flirtation with drama and bloody action?

At least I got to find out why the ED for this section was so darn creepy. Give me the rain one again, please...

There will be a return to the srs bzns end of Gintama at a later date, so I hear, though of course even this Benizakura arc didn't miss out on the comedy - check Elizabeth's fantastic Golgo 13 impersonation for proof. Keep an eye out for the earphones-wearing peripheral baddie who popped up in the last few episodes - when he shows up again, it'll be bloody drama time once more. I can't wait!

As someone sticking to the Gintama Manga, can any of you indicate what events introudce that arc?

Finished the first four episodes of Higurashi, and am onto the next section. I think I'll be a tad disappointed if the whole thing really does revolve around a real god's curse. That kind of explanation would take some of the fun out of it.
