Giant Robo is the second greatest OVA series ever made. (Gunbuster, together with its 2003 sequel, is the greatest.) It's like a League of Extraordinary Gentlemen of Japanese popular fiction, everything from The Water Margin to Little Witch Sally is referenced in there somewhere. And among other delights, enjoy the fact that voice actor Kappei Yamaguchi, who plays the pure-hearted young boy lead Daisaku, grew up and became L in Death Note.

I do feel slightly guilty for getting this much enjoyment out of an anime series that is very clearly aimed at five year olds, but... it's a big-eyed kitten, dammit! |
It's quite interesting that the show seems to have been written by people with no experience of cats of kittens, but I suspect it's more an accurate reflection of the status of cats in Japan, most of which are half-feral strays.

Troo - Is that so in Japan? I hadn't thought of it like that. I hadn't also thought about the knowledge the writers had of cats. I haven't owned one so it didn't really come to mind. My reaction to the show is simply "ooh, cute" and that's about it. |
Aye. Alas cats are treated quite poorly in Japan (nowhere nearly as well as dogs).
