i know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but that show seemed pretty much like Leah described it - a trashy throwback to nineties anime -- a shame really, as i used to dig the american tv show -- never read the comic though...

Neo raved about the series and the (male) reviewer gave it a four star rating. Is it a boy girl thing? I don't reallly feel like giving shelf space though, TBH.

I've watched the first disc and quite liked it but Leah's absolutely right IMO; it's T&A + Violence all the way, just switch your brain off and enjoy! :o

Though bonus points for having a young mother as the heroine.

I have currently been watching "Full Metal Alchemist" and "Bleach" on Anime Central.

Both shows are brilliant. However does anyone know when the 3rd srason of Bleach will air. The last episode had renji being beaten by Rukias brother and Ichigo being trained to release his Bankai.

Any idea if Anime central will air the rest of this great series???

Hi Kirk, Bleach is really keeping us on the edge of our seats isn't it? Hurry up and save Rukia, already!

Anyway, to answer your question, there are a few more episodes after the last one you saw that have been released in English - I'll let Wiki take it from here.

As you can see we are far, far behind the Japanese - they are on episode 160!!

Thaks for that, but do you know when it will be on UK telly again??

Gundam Seed was awesome. The only thing I didn't like was they killed Commander LaFlaga. Can't wait for the last episode of FullMetal Alchemist tonight.

Kaiji - an unemployed loser gets tricked into taking on a huge debt and is drawn into a world of bizarre, contrived games of chance as he attempts to pay it off. That's a terrible way to describe a show that's as exciting and intense as the best of Death Note or Oz. The main character is a worthless bum, the art style is weird, the narration is hopelessly overdone, there are absolutely no female characters - yet it's awesome. If the eccentric visuals and the fact that everybody in the show is a dislikeable, grasping opportunist don't put you off, you'll be watching an audacious, suspenseful thriller that makes the likes of Hustle look utterly weak.

Hell Girl (Jigoku Shōjo) - quite an interesting series, it may lack full on horror but makes up with intriguing characters, excellent animation and sound. I am curious to see how the live action version fairs.

I've read blogs on this, and it sounds like it could be interesting.

I wonder if there's any chance of this getting licensed? I'm curious only because my anime list is long enough already  Either way, I'll hope I can watch it at some point. And one of the shows I'm watching at the moment is the one in your icon, which is well worth it in its own way.

Kyoufu 04-03-2008 07:20 PM

I'd say the chances of either Kaiji or Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei being licensed are fairly slim - after all the market appears to be shrinking, and shows without obvious mass market appeal (i.e. action, cuteness, fanservice) are unlikely to get ahead of arrant cobblers like Witchblade. I don't want to sound like I'm turning my nose up at popular shows - Gurren-Lagann, my favourite show of last year, was a huge hit - but Kaiji is a difficult ask to be certain. Let us know your opinion if you watch it - I think that if you can get through the strange style and direction it's one of the most compelling shows around.

Does anyone here have an opinion on the latest trend for 'visual novel' adaptations? They seem to be everywhere at the moment: Fate/stay night, Air, Kanon, Clannad.... Most of these shows seem to be an extremely content-free attempt at keeping the (spit) harem genre alive, but then I have to admit that one of the better shows this season, True Tears, falls into the same category. What do you think?

Oops - just saw your reply! No I don't know when it will be shown again and there is no news about at the anime central website either.
