Night Wizard the animation.

Main male character desperately wants to go to school but keeps getting thrown into missions that have him fighting monsters by a tea sipping little girl and her entourage of muscled men. The story also seems to go on about a half interesting girl with no parents (tragic). One of her eyes glows blue and she goes and collects multi' coloured balls. Oh and theres bad guys in the shadows.

We don't have a dedicated Lucky Star thread but since there's been plenty of talk of it in this topic, I thought I'd post this here for amusement purposes:

Motteke! Sailor Fuku (All-Star Male Version)

Particularly enjoyed L and Light's cameo... and we always wondered that about Roy Mustang, didn't we?

Code Geass is a show that passed me by earlier in the year, but eight episodes in it's proving enormously entertaining: a brilliantly made pile-up of The Count of Monte Cristo, V for Vendetta, Vision of Escaflowne and Death Note. Having a central character who's an icy manipulative bastard is always a good move for a show. Even better, the traditional Mysterious Girl stereotype character is anything but, as she munches on pizza, talks back to her male foil and breezily keeps one step ahead of him. Approved!

You're thinking of Darker than Black, another show that turned out way better than I was expecting.

No, wait, they both do.

just had the complete series of gad guard arrive today (£6 from ADV direct - see the bargains thread)

Enjoying the altogether 'different' feel the show has compared to the usual - retro, chunky character designs, and a jazzy soundtrack. (the opening is pretty mellow and addictive).

Our hero is a delivery boy in a city divided into towns - night town and day town, which only get power half the day each, and gold town where all the rich live.

a delivery turns out to be a 'gad' a mysterious object that reacts to certain people and transforms into a robot called a techode, giving him an instant mech.

The next series of Bleach starts tomorrow on Anime Central!!

Hurrah!!

Planetes Was brilliant as well. I reread some of the Anime Special #3 today and in it there was an interview with someone or other (I can't be bothered looking it up right now) who worked for a distributer who said he really wanted to find a way to get other people to love the shows he did like Planetes. Well this was certainly the way to do that! Pity there is no more - I would love to find out what happens seven years from the end... :) (no spoilers!)

The Planetes box set can be grabbed dirt cheap. It really is an excellent show, and it really highlights the importance of getting some anime, any anime on t' telly. I wouldn't have given a second thought about seeing that show otherwise.

Polished off Pani Poni Dash - really enjoyed this series a great deal, the Star Trek mickey-taking was inspired! :o
