Ah, but it is anime - although it was created by a French man, it was animated by an anime studio. Which is good enough for me ^_^

Spoiler
How could they do that! My favourite family man Hughes - dead and buried in one of the most emotionally wrought scenes I've ever witnessed in a TV show. Just when you thought he was safe - that he had seen through the trap, bang! shot and killed.

This show just keeps throwing curve balls at me...

I watched both gigs of Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex this week so that I would have it fresh in my mind when I got Solid State Society yesterday. Solid State was so good that I watched it again this morning and am seriously considering watching it again tomorrow.

watched Mazinkaiser (basically 70's super robot show with up-to-date animation.) was dumb fun, and its pretty much just like the original - no complex plots, or detailed and interesting characters, just mech on mech action, and dumb hero's winning against dumber villains (in one ep, the villain has the hero's at his/her mercy, but holds off on killing them so he/she can execute them in front of his/her superior, which pretty much leads to them breaking loose and winning) Not great, but not bad for £2 (thanks for the heads up in the bargains thread veela ^^)

Also, first two eps of angelic layer (thanks again veela). looks like it could be interesting, but not 100% sold on it yet. A clamp take on the fighting/tournament anime with the fresh from the country schoolgirl joining in the angelic layer doll based fighting game. Man, i wish someone would make an online version of this - it looks pretty fun (and customizable)

SAC 2nd gig, god bless them Tachikomas! And Booty loads of Trinity Blood plus more Naruto Shippunden. Sakura is now totally sodding awsome!

Mononoke. No, not the Ghibli film; it's a series about a travelling exorcist with an animation style somewhere between Hokusai and Yellow Submarine. It's awesome, even though I've only seen 3 episodes so far. But you'll have to borrow it off a friend who can translate it if you want to see it.... (I'd suggest Black-Sheep, if that's not too broad a hint for the mods.)

I watched the Ghibli movie Princess Monoke yesterday - It really drew me in, but it was odd in that it seemed to try really hard to draw all the human characters we met as basically good if flawed - even the selfish monk!
