Cried and cried.

Venus Wars is one of the best anime movies I've ever seen and it's criminal that it's never been released on DVD. Whoever owns the rights to it (is it still Manga Ent.?) should give it the justice it deserves with a special edition.

I just got Patlabor 3 in the post, after forgetting I ordered it! Love it when that happens. I can't believe I've left it until now to pick it up.

Oh and yeah, 'Fireflies is totally blub-worthy...

I didn't know there was a third Patlabor movie. What's it like?

Neither did I til a few years ago! It's not directed by Mamoru Oshii, nor does it have any of the localisation crew of either Manga Ent. or Bandai, and it's actually set between the first and second movie (which makes sense given how 2 ends). I shall report back when I get home and watch it!

Saw Patlabor 3 last night -- It has a much darker tone than the other two, and goes down almost a cronenberg-esque route. Its main two characters are new (as far as the movies go, I've not seen the whole series or read the manga), and SV2 only feature as supporting characters. The artistry, while beautiful, is very unlike the others, and definitely doesn't have the shimmering shots of the hazy Tokyo cityscape that typified the aesthetic of Oshii's films. The English voice actors for SV2 sound very similar to the Bandai cast, so it's not as jarring as I thought it might be. Really good film, if pretty bleak at times.

Am trying to remember the name of 80's show about a battleship that gets raised up from where it sank, turned into a spaceship and crew went off into space to get artefact from an alien to save earth from different invading aliens. Think I saw a copy in JB-Hifi but couldn't stop to look as 3yr old rugrat was doing his 'nana (tantrum). He always does when mummy and daddy stop to look at things in a bookstore or DVDs.

My copy of Venus Wars is on video and is nearly worn out.

as I was only 15 at time I watched it and memory has gone caput since having rugrats. Can remember the characters but not the title.

Can't think of any others that match the story, sorry.

Bleach #266

This is way on from when the Anime stopped and started again, it's very flashy but there are all these characters flying around and it's all a bit meaningless. If it weren't for a few interesting characters there'd be very little point in watching this series further.
