RANT: Panic buying at the petrol pumps. I have a road trip planned this weekend and it was nearly cut short as I needed petrol and there wasn't any to be found.

Rant: My dad had a sudden temporary loss of vision yesterday, and after a quick visit to GP, flew to Washington for a meeting. Hopefully it's something trivial, but I'm worried it might be a TIA. Silly sod still acts like he's 25.

Rave: realised I care a lot about him. He's grumpy but has a heart

RAVE: Lost another 2 pounds since Monday. Feeling a bit smug but hopefully I can keep it up!

RAVE: Almost the weekend. Lots of lovely things planned.

RANT: Was locked out of my building this morning for 45 minutes because of a power cut. Luckily I managed to highjack a PC in one of the other buildings to print off the docs for an important client meeting!

RANT: Wore lovely shoes today but have now remembered why I don't wear them often - ouch!

RAVE: Got free preview tickets for Cabin in the Woods on Monday and cannot wait.

RAVE: My parental units are looking after the Morganite for a couple of nights next week so I get to go out and play.

RANT: So it has suddenly been decided that the care home my parents were meant to be looking at today for my dad to stay in permanently is "not suitable". Which I'm sure had nothing whatsoever to do with the expense. So another home is recommended for them to look at. Fine, whatever. My mum rings up and is told they can have a look but there are no spaces and they can't say when there will be as obviously spaces only become available when one of the residents passes away. I'd really like for some of these people to deal with my mum to her face when she's sobbing on my shoulder and telling me how she feels like God has deserted her and she can't cope and wants to die. So I've found myself promising that if the Parkinsons Nurse who she has left a message for doesn't call her back today then I will speak to her on Monday, and if I don't get anywhere I'll speak to the Social Care Director at work. He has a soft spot for me and if it helps I'm not above wearing a short skirt and crying at him until I get somewhere.

RAVE: Geekend!

RANT: Doesn't feel right to be going off and having fun. But I can't achieve anything by staying. Confused/guilty.

rant: my laptop is still in the shop after a week, and have called them and they have done no work at all. for the love of god i need my laptop!

You probably can't accomplish anything by staying at home all weekend feeling stressed, so go and enjoy yourself. It sounds like you could do with a break.
