X-Men The Early Years

X-MenX-Men movie producer Lauren Shuler Donner revealed in an interview on America's Fox Movie Channel that there are tentative plans for an X-Men Origins movie called First Class, which will feature the some of the original X-Men as young pupils at Xavier’s School For Gifted Youngsters.

"It is the first class of Xavier's school, way back when, so it's young Scott, young Jean, young Beast and that'll be really fun," Donner is reported as saying on Coming Soon. "I think (the plan) is to follow some of the characters into their own stories, and weave them back into the X-Men world. And hopefully First Class will become its own franchise and we can follow them as they grow up."

Just as long as they don’t recast Patrick Stewart and do that CG de-aging trick they used in the opening scene of X-Men III. That was just downright freaky.

Donner also said that a Magneto film was still in development.

or here's an idea, let's just forget that x-men 3 ever happened and carry on from no.2

I'm probably alone in this, but I was kinda hoping for a film following the adventures of Iceman, Shadowcat and Rogue... I suppose if that did happen, we might have to acknowledge X-Men 3.

yeah i'm with daft. REBOOT, REBOOT, REBOOT, REBOOT. Ignore X 3 and make a new X adventure off the back of X2. Or maybe just completely reboot and have a film that acts as a sort of sequel to the singer movies.

I'm not bothered which direction they go in as long as we get more X-Men goodness! I'd happily sit down to watch any form of the mutant heroes especially if they introduce new and interesting characters along with filling out the background on the ones we've already met.

I remember watching the pilot for Generation X back in the 90's and of course there's been Mutant X which both had potential, aside from the daft plots and poor acting, so I can see the reasoning behind a Young X-Men franchise.

I only hope when it's made it's still aimed at mainstream fans and not dumbed down into kids movies complete with fart gags and "I love you dad" moments.

The title was announced (or leaked? I can't remember) a while back...

I have to say, I was hoping that it would be Rogue etc, not the first few. Most of my favourite characters wouldn't be in the film at all... and my least favourite, Cyclops, would be.

Still, I'll certainly watch any X-Men they give us. I'm just holding out hope that one day they'll actually make some moves about the characters I really care about.

I would prefer we go away a little from the core X-men such as Jean Grey, Cyclops and dare I say Wolverine and look at some of the lesser known or lesser loved characters, whilst keeping some money winning characters to keep the masses enthralled.
So I too second a team that includes Rogue, Shadowcat and Iceman. I would also love to see Banshee and have Nightcrawler back. Perhaps even a more rounded Angel (X-Men 3 is a bad dream best forgotten). Or Colossus, Forge!, Cable, Jubilee and Emma Frost.
I also want Mister Sinister as a main villain!
An Astonishing X-Men movie would also be cool.

Or what would be really slick. A NEW WARRIORS MOVIE!

Due to the way they modged around the franchise to have a young Ice Man etc and Magneto not turning up again until X1 I'm not sure it would work...wouldn't Storm be in there too?

X3 I couldn't even watch after learning of the crappy end. Now, once again, we have to de-age the characters and see them in their early years. Sorry, but I rather move forward than backward which seems to be the trend unfortunately to bring in the younger crowd.
