Water Cooler Of Mars

Here in the SFX office, we loved the scene with the Dalek. A really pleasant surprise. But we’re not convinced by the Doctor’s excuse why it didn’t kill the young Adelaide. As if Daleks give a plunger about "fixed points in time"! Hah!

After all, the scene happened when the Daleks were planning on destroying all life in every reality in a couple of ticks. She was going to die anyway.

Nah, we reckon he was a Dalek perv, flying about looking for lit-up attic windows to have a peak into. He was hoping he's find a nekkid laydee in there. All he got was an eyeful of some frightened tot, not some totty. No wonder he flew off in a huff.

Pervert dalek is a good one, but I think he was a lazy dalek.

There they were, busy wiping out humanity, but he had obviously had enough of shooting people and being shouted at by his dalek line manager so was daydreaming and floating above houses for no reason before flying off to nowhere.

Talk about second star to the left and straight on til morning!

I think the Dalek had tasted some of those Magic Brownies. Not a care in the world.

Two eyes better than one?

(How *do* Daleks cope without stereoscopic vision, anyway? Superior life-form, my furry arse...)

It's called a plot hole.

Never mind, it probably couldn't be bothered wasting the ammo and received orders to get back to the Crucible for universal destruction.

Then again pervert Dalek makes just as much sense

Not the greatest episode ever though, was it? I mean, for a 'special' it just wasn't that... well... special!

If it had been a series episode, everyone would be saying "oh, that was a bit crap this week, but next week's one looks much better."

It could have done with being thirty minutes longer, which would have allowed time to develop the characters properly and, perhaps, made it a bit scarier. It all seemed so rushed!

'The Satan Pit'/'Impossible Planet' is so superior to last night's effort.

Sorry, RTD. Close, but no cigar.

Maybe some of those Reapers from Father's Day would have turned up if it'd killed Adelaide early. Although personally I'd have thought that daleks could beat them, maybe it didn't want to be the one to bring yet another old monster back into the plot.

Finally caught up with the episode. Yeah, not sure what to make of that Dalek.. except that he was definitely slacking off from, oh say, destroying the universe. As somebody notes, it's more like a plot hole. But you could call it fate.. that's always a great way to explain things.. fate had the Dalek happen to see her (and she him) but then get called away...

the Dalek was making sure it was her and that she was still alive. She's part of a fixed point in time and must die in 2059. The Doctor explains it later in WOM... also, I think Adelaide's death is involved in part of the plot for the End of Time. Like the butterfly effect. The Doctor changed the fixed point and it will have consequences.
