Want to ask Nathan Fillion a question?

Yep, SFX anticipates meeting up with Nathan "Mal Reynolds" Fillion in a few days' time. We plan to run a feature in a forthcoming issue, and here's how we reckon that would work: SFX readers and fans get to suggest the questions I'll put to him.

So, got any questions we should ask him? Visit our forum here to suggest them.

UPDATE: Now closed. Thanks for the contributions folks!

If your life hadn't taken a turn down the acting road, what do you see yourself having chosen as a career?

Hi Nathan, I've remarked on your blog that you have a very distinctive Jimmy Stewart "everyman" vibe, a quality that emerges in your leading and more character-actor roles. How do you see yourself as an actor and are there any artists you've modeled yourself after?

In Drive, Waitress, Slither, Serenity/Firefly, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and others, you have been portrayed as a southern character. As a Canadian, did you study to become the southern man or did you base your character/accent off of any particular person? And along those lines, do you feel like you are being typecasted into a particular role?

How do you feel when people say that you are a sex symbol? And who, in your mind, best represents the title?

In one of your interviews, you stated that you wanted ot become a history teacher because it ran in your family. Having wanted to be a teacher, I see a coorelation between characters who believe that what they do is right, even when society or adversity blocks their path. Would you say that your characters are good role models for others and is this why you choose them?

I am a browncoat by heart, and no matter what you say mr Filli, I will never stop hoping, that Firefly is picked up again. Ever.
Is it true, that Starbuck and Mal is related twice removed to the motherside of Mal?
Keep flying, cap'n.

Hi Nathan

Who would win in a fight between a caveman or astronaut?

Give us some dirt! What roles have you wanted and not gotten or been ofered and decided to pass on? Do you regret that? ;)

Hi Nathan,

In an unfair fight, who would win - Malcolm Reynolds or Alex Tully?

Do you get to drive the Challenger much? How fast have you driven the Challenger so far as part of filming Drive? What was your first car?

I sent an email, but just in case. Favorite color, food.

And seriously I heard you didnt get to do much actual driving, but THE CHALLENGER! How cool is it just to sit in that car??

Alex Tully seems to be a man mostly on the path of the righteous. He doesn't smile much. Malcolm Reynolds was morally-ambiguous, ocassionally skirting the line between right and wrong, but he had a lot more fun. Are we going to see Alex loosen up a little and maybe make some jokes?

As a loyal browncoat, this is a painful question; but do you ever regret taking the role of Malcolm Reynolds? Are you ever afraid you'll drift into what I call 'William Shatner syndrome', 30 years on and you're still doing Firefly conventions?

*Yes, I know that's 2 questions, but I'm greedy. :o)

You've said in the past that you feel more comfortable doing comedy, but now that you are working on Drive and after Firefly, do you feel that you are getting more comfortable with drama, and how do the two compare?

Will you ever pose nude for Playgirl?

Hi Nathan,

What plans do you have after Drive, are there any unfulfilled characters/roles you yearn to play, or any leading ladies you'd love to work alongside?

I think you'd make a great faceman from the A team.

Do you have any upcoming projects that are in developement? Things that aren't already filmed yet?

If you could choose one moment or scene in either Firefly or Serenity that defines the character of Malcolm Reynolds, what would it be and why?

Thanks folk - a nice lot of questions here, on the forum and by email. I'm off on my travels now, so the opportunity to submit questions has passed (locking thread). Thank you to everybody who sent me things to ask Mr Fillion. My time with him will be limited so I won't be able to ask them all, but I'll get through what I can and you can read the results in a forthcoming issue.
