Would anybody bet against the first three making the final cut?
Captain America Gets a Director
Former FX supervisor and director of Jumanji and Jurassic Park III Joe Johnston has been picked to helm the Captain America movie, according to Variety. Currently, the release date is pencilled in for May 2011. That's the same year the Avengers movie is scheduled to be released, so whoever’s picked to play wing-head is going to be busy.
Calling Shots on Conan
According to The Hollywood Reporter X-Men: The Last Stand director Brett Ratner has signed up to call the shots on the upcoming Conan remake, after he completed Beverley Hills Cop IV.
I'm LOVING the new Watchman posters.
Not quite how I imagined it being publicised but then to be honest how DO you publicise a film of The Watchmen???

How about Ponyo on the Cliff, by Myiazaki, for the animated Movies nominations?
Is it out of that list because of copyright and release reasons?

Ponyo hasn't been screened in America yet, afaik... Should be eligible for 2010. The top two animated films in the list are definite nominations, and Kung Fu Panda is very likely; I found it great fun myself. (Of course, I haven't seen Bolt or Madagascar 2 yet.)
The real question is whether Waltz with Bashir - a hard-hitting war documentary - can beat Wall-E. If I was a betting man, I'd say no, but it IS possible.
Of the obscure titles, I'd personally reoommend Dragon Hunters (a fun kids' adventure-fantasy in CGI) and Sword of the Stranger (a solid anime samurai drama, with real attention to its story and characters.) But they won't be on the list.

Thanks for the information, Andrew!
I can't see how the fabulous Wall-E can be beaten this year to Oscar glory, but am happy that the brilliant storyteller that is Hayao Miyazaki can have his films shown properly around the world. He doesn't need more money or more awards, but i surely woyuld like to see Ponyo on the big screen.
