Spock lives!

Disappointed not to catch a glimpse of Leonard Nimoy in the adrenalin-pumping new Star Trek trailer that was unleashed last week? Such an omission seemed highly illogical, but now you can catch a glimpse of the original Vulcan, returning to our screens in JJ Abrams' 2009 Star Trek remake/reboot/requel/rewhateverthehell.

Ain't It Cool News have the exclusive new Nimoy-starring remix of the trailer, so simply head on over here for pointy-eared goodness.

There's not something in our eye, by the way. We're simply wrestling with our inner emotional turmoil.

Cock ups?

Did they stick the warp engines to the wrong bit of the ship again?

They're not really cock-ups.

Trek Movie recently posted an interview with Bob Orci, who is one of the writers of the new movie. The basic premise is that Nero goes back in time and attacks the USS Kelvin- a ship carrying James T. Kirk's parents - the events of which create an alternate timeline in which some things are subtly different. Some more so.

So, the Enterprise is blinged up and Kirk & Pike meet under different circumstances.

S'all to do with Quantum Mechanics, see? Multiple timelines branching out from an original, which continues anyway. So somewhere, there is a timeline where Riker isn't a fat idiot who can't walk properly, Data isn't a git, The crew of the USS Voyager had loads of exciting adventures and the crew os Enterprise are now in the eighth year of their mission.
