Second Doctor Who special companion announced
|
The BBC has announced that the Doctor's assistant in the second of this year's specials will be noted stage actress Lindsay Duncan, whose character has been described as "the cleverest and most strong-minded companion yet". Duncan, who won the Tony Award for her role in the Noel Coward play Private Lives, has said "I'm thrilled to be involved in Doctor Who. I've never done anything like this before." Duncan's other sci-fi credits include providing the voice of protocol droid TC-14 in The Phantom Menace, and she's also been cast as Alice's mother in Tim Burton's upcoming adaptation of Alice In Wonderland. She also recently starred in HBO's mini-series Rome, and fans can inspect her acting chops for themselves on 26 February, when she'll be appearing in the title role of the BBC's one-off piece Margaret. It will be interesting to see how the Doctor interacts with a more mature companion.

Marvellous to have an older (and very attractive) lady tackling the doc!
