Meet the bloggers

Back at the start of 2009 we invited readers of the site, forum and magazine to get in touch if they'd like to be official SFX bloggers. Out of all those who submitted contributions, we chose 12 people, and they've now begun regularly posting on the main SFX website. On this page, you can discover a little more about them (be sure also to check out the Post Apocalypse pages of SFX every month starting with issue 181).

NARIN BAHAR
You may know Narin as a moderator on our forum. She attends a lot of conventions and her special interests are Being Human (she's largely responsible for persuading the Beeb to grant it a series!) as well as Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, Chuck and Lost.

JOHN COOPER
"I can't get enough of weird old British telly," reveals 34-year-old John, who also likes sci-fi movies "at the cutting edge of bonkers". He tells us his ideal night in would be a few episodes of Sapphire and Steel, followed by Lifeforce or even Biggles…

STEVE GAYTHORPE
39-year-old Steve (on the SFX forum as StevenGaythorpe) is writing a screenplay at the moment. His sci-fi interests include Doctor Who, DS9, Lost, Donnie Darko and the films of Hayao Miyazaki. He also enjoys comics and Terry Pratchett novels.

STUART HALL
Cornish Stuart is primarily interested in literary SF, including short story magazines and older novels. He also enjoys audio SF, particularly on radio, and SF poetry. You might also know him as forum user ptahotep.

KELLY HARKER
Hailing from Canada, young Kelly is "a self-proclaimed expert on Buffy, Firefly, Battlestar, Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis" as well as Star Wars. She also loves "Sith Lords, theoretical astrophysics, time travel and zombies."

LEE HARRIS
Lee's claim to fame is that he was just the 30th member of the SFX forum (there are now around four and a half thousand). He publishes the electronic fanzine The Hub and enjoys short fiction, publishing (novels), publishing (eZines), genre TV and film.

LAURA MCCONNELL
Laura is a 32-year-old American whose biggest SF interests are Firefly and Serenity, Stargate of any flavour, Star Wars, The X-Files and any Star Trek ("except Enterprise" she stresses). Laura also blogs for Kids Need To Read and she favors the funny side of SF - one of her favorite movies is Shaun of the Dead.

JONNY ROSE
Wiltshire-based Jonny says: "If I had to quantify myself, I'd call myself a gamer as much as a sci-fi fan, an avid book reader, comic reader and role-player, and a fan of numerous cult shows and movies, including but not limited to: Star Wars, BSG, Red Dwarf, Dexter, the Evil Dead series, a lot of Japanese horror and some anime."

WILLIAM SALMON
Yorkshire-born William writes about mobile phones for O2 during the day. His SF fixation started back when he discovered his brother's Doctor Who books aged five, and he soon graduated to the likes of Philip K Dick, Iain M Banks and China Miéville. These days he's obsessed with Lost and New Who.

JAMIE STARBUCK
"I'll watch and read pretty much anything SF," claims long-time forum user Jamie. "I watch pap like Smallville and love Lost while abhorring Ghost Whisperer." He says he'd love to hate New Who "but then I'd have to stop watching and I just can't bring myself to do it."

ALASDAIR STUART
"My science fiction interests tend towards the near-future end of things," admits Alasdair, who's 32 and who has already blogged a number of times for SFX about popular science. "It's thanks to a childhood consisting of a lot of techno thrillers and Tomorrow's World!"

STACEY WHITTLE
Stacey, whose interests include comics and books, is also a moderator over at our forum. "I love comic conventions," she says, because they're "the best places to pick up small press and Indie comics which are a particular love of mine!"

These 12 volunteer writers have a category all to themselves labelled, of course, Blogs. You can click the link on the left of the site any time to see the latest. Come along and support them, and be sure to leave your own feedback and ideas in the comment threads.
